These models depicts a mandible with Hemifacial Microsomia, Pre and Post operation. Hemifacial Microsomia is a rare condition where one of the mandibular condyles does not develop properly, resulting in a malformed bite. The operation to correct this involves using a rib to reconstruct the malformed condyle. These models are created from CT imagery before and after such an operation and serve to illustrate the effects such a reconstructive surgery to have.
The models are 3D printed with cutting edge polyjet technology, and as such have unparalleled dimensional accuracy. As such these models are great for demonstrating both the pathology as well as corrective methodologies.
