This 3D-printed anatomical model of a heart with a persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) defect is an invaluable tool for medical professionals and students alike. The model is segmented from CT imagery to ensure accuracy and authenticity, offering an unprecedented level of detail in a convenient and portable form.

This model is ideal for use in medical classrooms and training sessions, allowing students to gain a deeper understanding of the condition and its effects on the heart. It can also be used to help medical professionals explain the condition to patients and their families, making it easier for them to understand the diagnosis and treatment options.

The ultra-realistic design makes it easier to identify the defect and its associated symptoms, and the durable materials ensure that the model can withstand regular handling. The model is lightweight and portable, making it easy to transport and use in various locations.

Persistent left superior vena cava (PLSVC) is the most common congenital venous anomaly, presenting in 0.3 to 0.5% of the general population. PLSVC is often asymptomatic and often detected incidentally. Multiple forms of PLSVC exist, but this model represents a rare instance where no right superior vena cava (RSVC) forms. In this case, the PLSVC reaches the right atrium through the coronary sinus. You can learn more about this condition here.
