Description
This 3D-printed moulage of a topical abscess provides the perfect tool for medical educators and clinicians to illustrate the diagnosis and treatment of an abscess.
Made with durable, lightweight material that allows for easy handling and manipulation, the life-like reproduction offers realistic, hands-on training experience for students and healthcare professionals to practice their skills in a simulated environment.
Using this tool, students will better understand the signs and symptoms of an abscess, and educators can effectively demonstrate the principles of wound care, how to properly clean and dress a wound, and the proper technique for draining an abscess.
Materials are compatible with industry-standard adhesives for application on manikins or standardized patients. Additionally, the moulage has been textured to match Gaumard manikins for ease of use.
This moulage was designed in partnership with Emory University’s Healthcare Human Factors Lab, through research initiatives in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). You can read more about the development and use of this moulage in our case study here.
